NSW: Police appeal for witness to security guard shooting

Police in Sydney are conducting forensic tests and examining closed-circuit TV footage
.. in an attempt to identify a group of men involved in a brawl that's left a nightclub
security guard with gunshot wounds.

Shortly before midnight last night the guard refused to let a group of about six young
men into the inner-city Kings Cross club.

A fist fight broke out .. before one of the men allegedly produced a handgun and fired
at least two shots .. hitting the security guard in the leg.

The guard's been taken to St Vincent's Hospital .. where he's in a stable condition
following surgery.

A girl who was waiting to get into the club was hit by projectile ricochets .. she's
also been treated at St Vincent's Hospital for minor injuries.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the shooting to come forward.
