Fed: Senate inquiry hearing on container refund scheme

A Senate inquiry will hear from food manufacturers and grocers today as it considers
a container deposit and recovery scheme.

Environmental groups will also give evidence at the public hearing in Melbourne.

The upper house committee is looking at a national plan by the Australian Greens to
establish an environmental levy of 10 cents for each beverage container .. similar to
a scheme operating in South Australia.
